Trump’s Negotiators Warned to Avoid Deception in Iran Nuclear Talks

In a recent advisory, experts on Iran’s nuclear negotiations caution former President Trump’s team about potentially falling victim to deceptive tactics employed by the Islamic Republic during atomic negotiations. These strategies echo the pitfalls of Barack Obama’s controversial nuclear agreement.

When President Trump withdrew from the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, he sharply criticized the deal, calling it a one-sided agreement that failed to prevent Tehran from advancing its nuclear ambitions. He described the accord in 2018 as a ‘horrible deal that should have never, ever been made.’

Experts from United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) released a report that characterizes Iran’s negotiation tactics, outlining ten specific strategies deployed to extract significant concessions while still maintaining their nuclear capabilities.

The report, titled “Iran’s Version of the Art of the Deal,” references Trump’s own famous book from 1987. It was authored by analysts Saeid Golkar, Jason M. Brodsky, and Kasra Aarabi.
