TSA Introduces New Security Lane and Benefits for Military Families

FIRST ON FOX: The Transportation Security Administration has announced significant updates to its airport security procedures, set to begin at select airports starting Tuesday. These updates include the introduction of a new security lane dedicated to active-duty service members and discounts for the TSA Precheck program tailored for the military community.

New Security Lane for Service Members

As part of its revamped security measures, the TSA will implement an additional security lane at airports located near military installations. This strategy focuses on improving the travel experience for military personnel. Airports that will feature this new lane include major hubs in San Antonio, Texas; Anchorage, Alaska; Atlanta; Austin, Texas; Colorado Springs, Colorado; El Paso, Texas; Fayetteville, North Carolina; Nashville, Tennessee; San Diego, California; and Seattle.

Service Member Statistics

According to a recent March report from the Department of Defense, approximately 1.13 million active-duty service members currently serve in the United States military. This demographic forms an essential part of the nation’s commitment to its defense.

Discounts for Gold Star Families and Active-Duty Personnel

In a heartfelt move, the TSA will waive the TSA PreCheck enrollment fee for Gold Star Families—those who have tragically lost a family member while serving the nation. This fee waiver includes TSA PreCheck enrollment through associated service providers such as CLEAR, IDEMIA, and Telos.

Moreover, active-duty Department of Defense personnel will receive a $25 discount on the TSA Precheck fee. It is important to note that active-duty service members and civilian Department of Defense staff already benefit from complimentary TSA PreCheck access.

Commitment to the Military Community

“This Independence Day and beyond, the TSA reaffirms its dedication to easing travel for the military community through the TSA PreCheck program. This includes free enrollment for Gold Star families, discounts for active-duty spouses, and expedited lanes for service members in uniform,” stated TSA Acting Administrator Ha Nguyen McNeill in an interview with Fox News Digital.

Partnerships to Honor Military Families

The agency’s initiatives align with its approach of expanding access and simplifying enrollment. By collaborating with TSA PreCheck enrollment providers and industry partners, the TSA aims to honor those who serve alongside the families who support them.
