The shooter, suspected to be Boelter, allegedly targeted former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark. Furthermore, State Senator John Hoffman, a fellow Democrat, and his wife, Yvette, were also shot in a separate incident approximately nine miles away in Champlin.
