In a significant operation aimed at curbing drug smuggling, the U.S. military executed a drone strike that resulted in the deaths of two suspected drug smugglers. War Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed the information on Tuesday, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat narco-terrorism.
This latest military operation, described as a “lethal kinetic strike,” was sanctioned by President Donald Trump. It occurred in international waters in the eastern Pacific Ocean, specifically targeting a vessel linked to a Designated Terrorist Organization (DTO). Hegseth noted that this strike marked the 16th such operation since President Trump commenced a direct assault on drug smuggling boats believed to be transporting illegal substances into the United States.
To date, U.S. military actions aimed at dismantling drug trafficking operations have led to the death of at least 66 suspected narco-terrorists, with three individuals reported to have survived these strikes. This relentless campaign illustrates the administration’s commitment to tackling the drug crisis that continues to affect communities across the nation.
Hegseth described the intelligence surrounding the vessel involved in the latest strike, stating that it confirmed the ship was implicated in illicit narcotics smuggling. The vessel was traveling along a well-known narco-trafficking route and was reported to be carrying narcotics at the time of the strike.
No U.S. forces sustained injuries during this operation. The two individuals aboard the vessel were confirmed as narco-terrorists. Hegseth stated unequivocally, “We will find and terminate every vessel with the intention of trafficking drugs to America to poison our citizens.” This statement underscores the urgency and importance placed on national security, with Hegseth emphasizing that protecting the homeland is the highest priority. He declared that no cartel terrorist stands a chance against the robust might of the American military.
In a broader strategic move, the U.S. military has augmented its presence throughout the Caribbean region. This enhancement includes the deployment of bombers, warships, and Marines as part of an aggressive campaign targeting drug-trafficking networks and entities identified as
