Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin is making strides to support federal employees impacted by job reductions implemented by the Department of Government Efficiency, known as DOGE. This new initiative aims to assist workers in transitioning to new job opportunities within the state.
To facilitate this process, Youngkin has unveiled a dedicated website designed to help these federal workers find positions in Virginia’s state government. The platform, available at virginiahasjobs.com, serves as a comprehensive resource for job seekers.
“We care about you,” Youngkin emphasized during a recent event at the Capital One Center in McLean. “And we have a support system in place to help you find that next great opportunity.”
The website is touted as a federal workers support resource package. According to Youngkin, this platform was specifically crafted to assist individuals facing job displacement. “We have openings in state government, and they will find a link on our website to explore those opportunities as well,” he stated.
The site offers valuable connections for job seekers, linking them to various employment sources, including job listings on popular platforms such as Indeed and LinkedIn. Furthermore, it aims to guide users toward finding a pathway to fulfilling careers.
Youngkin expressed deep empathy for the thousands of Virginia workers affected. “Take advantage of the resources that will help you find your pathway to that career of your dreams,” he added, acknowledging the genuine concerns faced by many impacted individuals.
While Youngkin has taken these significant steps, he faces criticism from state Democrats. They argue that his actions may not adequately defend the interests of Virginians. House Speaker Don Scott, a Democrat from Portsmouth, condemned the website, referring to it as an “insult.”
Senate Majority Leader Scott A. Surovell from Fairfax voiced his discontent, stating, “Glossy websites and slogans can’t cover up his political capitulation and a Governor who has turned his back on his constituents when they need it most.”
Youngkin has not shied away from acknowledging his support for the recent job cuts ordered by DOGE. He insists that these measures are necessary to enhance government efficiency. “We have a federal government that is inefficient, and we have an administration that’s taking on that challenge, rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse and driving efficiency in our federal government,” he explained. “It needs to happen.”
Despite his support for the cuts, Youngkin maintains that the
