The data encompasses incidents recorded between 6 p.m. on Friday and 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. However, authorities caution that these numbers are subject to revision.
Among the victims is a 16-year-old who suffered a gunshot wound to the hand. He reported that he was shot during a drive-by incident involving a black SUV. Other victims included a 62-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, both shot in the legs while seated in a garage. Additionally, a 33-year-old man was fatally injured by gunfire in the chest after a dispute with an unnamed assailant.
These grim statistics unfold as Illinois Governor JB Pritzker openly rejects a proposal from President Donald Trump to send the National Guard into Chicago to address the escalating violence. Governor Pritzker has termed the plan as Trump’s invasion, which has sparked significant controversy.
