On Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt asserted that the true constitutional crisis resides within the judicial branch. She stated that district court judges in liberal districts across the nation have been misusing their authority to block President Trump’s essential executive actions.
Leavitt’s comments came in light of a wave of legal challenges targeting the Trump administration. Since January 20, various activist groups, legal organizations, local officials, and other stakeholders have collectively filed over 50 lawsuits in response to Trump’s executive orders, proclamations, and memos.
“We believe these judges are acting as judicial activists rather than impartial arbiters of the law,” Leavitt claimed. “In the past two weeks alone, they have issued at least 12 injunctions against this administration, often without any substantiating evidence for their lawsuits.”
She emphasized that this trend is part of a broader strategy employed by Democrat activists, framing it as a continuation of the politicization of the justice system aimed at undermining President Trump.
In just three weeks back in office, Trump’s administration has faced an onslaught of no fewer than 54 lawsuits aimed at resisting his proposed policies. The sheer volume of these challenges highlights a significant push from multiple sectors seeking to counter the administration’s agenda.
Leavitt accused several media outlets of perpetuating an “extremely dishonest narrative” which suggests a constitutional crisis is looming within the White House. She asserted that this fearmongering aims to mislead the American public regarding the health of the country’s governance.
“Quick news flash to these liberal judges who are supporting their obstructionist efforts: 77 million Americans voted to elect this president, and every judicial injunction represents an erosion of the rule of law and a dismissal of the people’s will,” Leavitt stated passionately.
As President Trump reiterated during an Oval Office session, the administration is committed to following legal processes in the courts. However, they also aim to pursue every available legal avenue to overturn what they consider radical injunctions that hinder their governance.
Leavitt concluded her remarks by expressing the administration’s determination to ensure that Trump’s policies can be effectively enacted despite the ongoing legal challenges.
