Lexi Langley, who graduated recently from Brigham Young University, recounted her experience during the chaotic scene. Langley told Fox News Digital that the attendees dropped to the ground immediately upon hearing the gunfire.
“I didn’t initially realize he had been shot. Everyone kind of fell to the ground” Langley recounted. “I braced myself for more shots since I thought it could be a mass shooting. An assassination attempt wasn’t what I envisioned.”

Footage Langley shared depicts people in the courtyard of UVU flattening themselves to the ground after the first gunshot rang out.
She described the moment she and others fled to safety in a nearby building and gradually realized the severity of the situation. “It felt surreal, like I was in a dream. It was a strange experience,” she said. “Many were crying as they sought comfort… it felt like the worst way to connect with strangers. Yet in that moment, our shared experience brought us together regardless of our backgrounds.”
