Woman Arrested for Allegedly Smuggling Drugged Child Across Arizona Border

A U.S. lawful permanent resident was arrested on Wednesday when she allegedly attempted to smuggle a drugged child into the United States via the Southern Border. Gloria Lopez-Corona, a 24-year-old from Mexico, tried to enter the U.S. with a five-year-old boy. She presented a birth certificate that was later determined to belong to a different child, specifically a two-year-old, leading to significant suspicions from law enforcement officials.

The child involved was discovered to be an unaccompanied minor from Mexico. Authorities noted that the boy appeared to be sedated, having been given melatonin gummies.
