New York police have taken a 33-year-old woman into custody following a fatal stabbing incident involving a 52-year-old man near a yacht club on Long Island’s picturesque north shore.
Kacy Corso, a resident of nearby Setauket, stands accused of involvement in the lethal altercation that led to the death of Christopher Millwater from Selden. This incident occurred in the parking lot of the Stony Brook Yacht Club, a location typically known for its serene kayak launches and celebratory wedding photos.
The violent encounter unfolded in the yacht club’s parking lot, located across from 21 Shore Road, a popular spot for both marina patrons and diners at the nearby Three Village Inn, situated approximately 60 miles east of New York City.
Sources have indicated that surveillance cameras, mounted on light poles around the yacht club, may have captured significant portions of the incident. Law enforcement officials are reviewing this video evidence as part of their ongoing investigation.
Corso appeared in a Central Islip courtroom on Thursday morning, facing a charge of second-degree murder. This charge, under New York law, refers to cases of intentional homicide. Authorities are still assessing whether additional charges may be forthcoming in this complex case.
Details surrounding the suspect’s history have also emerged. A social media post from July, reportedly from a Facebook account linked to Corso, seems to suggest previous familiarity with Millwater prior to the altercation.
The same Facebook account shared at least one image taken from the yacht club parking lot, which was posted in July, near the boat ramp that provides access to fishermen. The investigation revealed that Millwater had interacted with one of Corso’s posts just days before the tragic encounter.
Court documents reveal Corso has faced unrelated legal issues earlier this year. On May 5, she was charged with illegally accessing a boat ramp parking lot in Smithtown and with being present in a park after dark.
The community is in shock over the violent nature of this incident, particularly in a location typically associated with leisure and celebration. Residents expressed their disbelief that such an altercation could occur at a spot known for its family-friendly activities.
Millwater has been remembered fondly by his loved ones. According to his Facebook page, he had recently received an
