EXCLUSIVE: Harriet Hageman, a Republican representative from Wyoming, shared her perspectives with Fox News Digital regarding the chaotic protests led by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) at her recent town hall meetings. These protests were marred by accusations of domestic terrorism occurring at Tesla dealerships, which Hageman asserts are being ignored by Democrats.
Hageman characterized the events as highly orchestrated protests rather than organic grassroots movements. She pointed out that two of her town halls last week were disrupted by liberal demonstrators whose disruptive actions gained significant attention on social media.
“This was not grassroots activism. Many attendees seemed to be from outside Wyoming or at least from communities unfamiliar with our local issues. Of the 75 town halls I have conducted in the past three years, only two have faced disruption,” Hageman remarked.
During her conversation, Hageman accused Democrats of engaging in a coordinated national effort aimed at silencing Republicans while failing to present constructive ideas.
“The Democrats are lost in the wilderness. Their failed policies continue to alienate the American public, who have become increasingly aware of their detrimental impact,” she stated.
Hageman elaborated on the negative implications of Democratic policies, describing them as harmful across various sectors including healthcare, education, business, and national security. She expressed disbelief at the lack of any supportive Democrat policy, marking a stark divide between their agenda and the sentiments of the American people.
The protests included chants related to the events of January 6, adding to Hageman’s suspicion of their organic nature. She noted the political weight of having her election victory over incumbent GOP representative Liz Cheney by a margin of nearly 40%, suggesting that these demonstrations were opportunistic and lacked genuine local support.
“I won by a significant landslide last November. While there are Democrats in Wyoming, the protests reflect a clear disconnect from our local constituency. The national leadership, including figures like Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer, have signaled their intent to stifle debate because they lack credible arguments,” Hageman emphasized.
Despite recent accusations from some Democrats that Republicans have been absent from town halls addressing questions about DOGE and previous Trump policies, Hageman confidently rebutted these claims.
“There’s ample evidence online disproving these accusations. The disruptions at town halls appear to be tactics by activists seeking viral fame, amplifying minor moments captured out of context,” she said.
With concerns escalating over safety at her events, Hageman has recently increased security measures. Despite this, she remains committed to engaging with her constituents and addressing their concerns directly.
“They attempt to silence us, but I refuse to let that happen. I continued the town hall discussions, ensuring people were informed about current issues in Washington, and I will persist despite the challenges,” Hageman asserted.
The violence surrounding Tesla dealerships across the nation, which has been described as domestic terrorism, has prompted heightened scrutiny from leaders like Attorney General Pam Bondi. Hageman expressed outrage over the lack of condemnation from Democrats regarding these attacks.
“The narrative being pushed by Democrats indicates a deliberate effort to create fear and hostility. Their language incites a dangerous atmosphere, risking the safety of individuals engaged in peaceful discourse,” she detailed.
Hageman also criticized the reluctance of Democratic representatives to address these incidents of violence, despite their previous denunciations of domestic terrorism.
“The term domestic terrorism is more frequently associated with actions from the left rather than the right. This seems a tactical deflection from real issues,” she said. “They engage in violent behavior and then label concerned citizens—like parents at school board meetings—as domestic terrorists. The absurdity of this rhetoric is becoming glaringly obvious.”
Comparing the political climate to a cornered animal, Hageman suggested that Democrats are displaying signs of desperation as they find themselves alienated from their traditional base, which largely supports government expansion.
“Their support has primarily stemmed from big government agencies and unions. However, we see a shift with figures like Trump and initiatives such as DOGE that push for more effective governance,” she reflected.
Recent polling data reveals that a significant portion of Americans endorse DOGE’s commitment to curbing wasteful practices in government. Nevertheless, there are concerns regarding the execution of these cuts that Hageman believes are often exaggerated by critics.
“While mistakes may occur, let’s not pretend that pervasive issues within federal agencies are something new. The people of Wyoming stand resolute in their support for efforts aimed at eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse,” she concluded.
As Hageman continues her town hall meetings, the tension between public officials and activists seems to escalate. The growing resistance from Democrats indicates a tactical response to perceived threats to their political standing, which manifests in the frenzied atmosphere at town halls.
With firmer plans to unite her constituency around substantive policy discussions, Hageman aims to maintain the momentum of transparency within her governance. By doing so, she seeks to counteract the rhetoric and misunderstandings fed by coordinated protest actions.
