In a bold move against former President Donald Trump, Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for mayor of New York City, has launched the ‘Five Boroughs Against Trump’ tour. This initiative begins on Monday and aims to rally opposition to what Mamdani describes as Trump’s authoritarian policies.
Mamdani’s campaign will take him to each of New York City’s diverse boroughs throughout the week. He starts in Manhattan, where he will join forces with Congressman Jerry Nadler, representing New York’s 10th district. Following Manhattan, he will continue to Brooklyn on Tuesday, visit Staten Island on Wednesday, move to the Bronx on Thursday, and wrap up his tour in Queens on Friday.

“Donald Trump is waging a full-scale assault on American democracy. He is dismantling our institutions, attacking our universities and scientific research, and using government power to serve his interests and those of his donors. Trump targets New York City specifically because New Yorkers have always perceived him as a self-serving, wannabe dictator,” Nadler stated during the tour’s kick-off event.
At the opening ‘Manhattan Against Trump’ gathering, Mamdani was joined by a notable lineup of local leaders, including NYC Councilmember Carmen De La Rosa, Councilmember Keith Powers, Assemblymember Harvey Epstein, former Manhattan Borough President Ruth Messinger, and 1199SEIU member Peggy Vujovick.
In recent weeks, Mamdani has drawn parallels between Trump and former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who is still in the race as an independent candidate, despite having lost the Democratic primary to Mamdani in June. This connection aims to highlight the broader implications of Trump’s influence on local politics.
Meanwhile, current Mayor Eric Adams is also campaigning as an independent, navigating his unique rapport with Trump. Additionally, Curtis Sliwa, the founder of the Guardian Angels, has emerged as the Republican nominee for mayor.
The White House has reacted strongly to Mamdani’s candidacy. White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson expressed concern over his policies, stating, “Comrade Mamdani poses a significant threat to the American people. His radical ideas will harm our economy, escalate crime rates, and undermine law enforcement. His approach to immigration reform raises serious doubts about national security, emphasizing no borders and promoting amnesty for violent offenders.” Jackson added that the American public has consistently rejected such proposals.
The White House further criticized Mamdani’s vision for immigration, claiming it reflects leftist ideology detrimental to public safety and order.
